Wood industry had developed in 2006 through wood constructions. It represents 2000 employments.
Cutting wood is one of the most important incomes for forestry regions (~120.000 euros / year), such as La Brigue, where we still meet woodcutters, an uncommon profession in this mechanized field. La Brigue is representing a surface of 10.000 hectares, most of it covered of forests. Approx. 6000m3 wood had been cut this year. David Ozon is one of the woodcutters from this region. He is cutting daily around ten trees, hoping his job will carry on.
In lack of sufficient woodcutters, we appeal to woodcutters’ teams from Eastern Europe.
