The damages caused by illegal cutting in the Arkhangelsk region from Russia during the period January – February current year compared to the same period of last year decreased by 8,6%, which represents approximately 47,7 million rubles.
In this region were 72 cases of illegal cutting of forests - a twice decrease from last year.
From November 1, 2009 in Arkhangelsk region were provided the following sanctions:
the companies, which trasport timber without having a set of documents must pay a fine of 100.000-150.000 rubles;
the drivers carrying wood without documents must pay 4.000 rubles;
and the owners of these cars – 40.000 rubles.
