On January 28th Greenpeace Russia sent to the president’s administration approximately 42.000 signatures of russians from 45 regions of the country to restore protection of forests in the state.
They are urging the president to implement a bill to restore forest’s protection, which have to represent an independent federal service with a sufficient number of inspectors.
The forest’s protection that existed since the time of Peter I was with the adoption of the new Forestry Code in January 2007.
Greenpeace consider that for minimum protection, Russia have to ensure no less than 20.000 inspectors.
The wizard of the forestry’s program, Mikhail Kreindlin, consider that nobody will be going to invest resources and efforts in forestry if in the future if the forest’s protection will be not restored.
The main consequences of this situation will be: forest degradation and increasing poverty unemployment in the forest’s villages.
