"The crisis has caused a very strong shot to wood industry, from which it would be difficult to recover" even under favorable circumstances, consider the deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Leningrad Region. On 22 th of April 2009 the deputies will consider a draft appeal which they will propose to the Vice President Vladimir Putin "about the export duties for timber".
The parliamentarians responsible for this area focus on the importance of this branch of economy for the most regions from north - west Russia. "If will not be taken serious measures in help the rising of the branch, the economic sector of the wood industry will be reduced almost to half, situation which will attract a lot of negative processes, including also the social processes", said the parliamentarians.
They suggest go beyond the abolition of fees limited only to companies that invest their profits in production (as the Russian Federation Government proposes), but to be "analyzed the problem of elimination of export duties for timber at all".
