In the first week of December, the 31st edition of the UW Forestry Club is set to take place at the UW Stock Pavilion. The purpose of this event is the sale of Christmas trees to visitors.
Ray Guries, the President of the Forestry and Wildlife Department of UW Madison declared that the funds raised from selling the firs and pines will be awarded to students who participate in campains and conferences on forestry.
The sale of 400 trees is intended, of which 90% are fir trees and 10% are white pines. Guries also stated that the trees are raised and cut by the Tate's Tree Co., near the town of Hancock, in the Waushara region. Most trees are between 2 and 3 metres tall.
Even if there are fluctuations in the demand for the various species of trees offered for sale, Ray Guries declares that, during the years, they have tried to adjust sales so that, a minute before closing time, there is one tree of every king left.
