The Finish forestry exploitation company, Tornator, has bought, in the year 2008, 10.000 hectares of forest in Romania.
The price of this transaction is estimated at 50 million euro. This is the largest private bussines in the wood sector in Romania. There are plans for buying another 10.000 to 20.000 hectares.
The aquired land is situated in the Oituz area of the Bacau district.
The purpose of this investment is to sell wood to local manufacturers. Also, simultaneously with the harvesting, replantations processes are planned.
The Tornator company owns forest terrains in Finland (60.000 hectares) and Estonia.
